About the Course

Description

The administration of personnel salaries can be one of the toughest and most critical decisions of a charter school.  Recruiting and retaining the highest performing teachers and staff is the key to top charter school performance.  Some of the key questions in salary administration include:

How much should teachers be paid, and who should decide?
Should some of teacher pay be tied to performance, and if so how?
How should pay be designed to attract teachers to hard-to-staff positions?
What rewards other than pay should be part of the overall package for teachers?

This session will focus on how many charters have answered these questions and more. The key is what school and system leaders do with pay when they are free to use compensation as a tool to meet their goals.
